Welcome to the Official Website of Rothwell Harriers & A.C. Established over 30 years ago the club has gone from strength to strength. We always welcome new members to the club and would love to see you running with us.
Our Seniors age group varies from young (18) to mature (75), slow and fast so we have something for everyone.
The nights we meet are as follows –
Tuesday – Interval Session 6.30-7.30pm. Meet at Oulton Sports Club
Wednesday – Group Running (Usually 3-5 groups of different abilities and paces lead by at least one of our run leaders) 6.30-8.00pm. Meet at Oulton Sports Club
We meet at Oulton Sports Club Find address here, every Tuesday & Wednesday evening. Our first session of the week is the Interval Session, on Tuesday which is always very popular. This group meet up at 6.30pm. The second session is on a Wednesday evening. Walk/Run, Beginners/Intermediate, Social Run and the Faster Run all meet at 6.30pm and this usually lasts until 8pm.
On a monthly basis, we meet at John Charles Centre for Sport on the athletics track (pay the track fee of about £3.50) on a Monday evening at 6pm. Track running is great for all events, it’s a perfect place for even pace running and is ideal for building on your pace and stamina.
From Thursday 27th September 2018 at 6:15pm, we are welcoming anyone who is interested in running with us, be it to discover or to improve your fitness or even to have some company while out running. You don’t have to join our club to try us out, we welcome you for free for a couple of sessions then you can make your decision whether it’s for you or not. You are very welcome to join us as a guest member for a couple of sessions. If you then wish to become a full member you will need to fill out an application form and bring it along to your next session, with your subscription fees. You can then hand this to Richard Wilson or one of the commitee members. It is with great pleasure that we are able to announce a special deal that has been offered by Lyndsay Hirst at Leeds Physiotherapy & Pilates Practice in Oulton to all Rothwell Harriers & A.C. members.
Of course, we hope none of you need to seek treatment but if you do have a niggle or a particular injury, you are all encouraged to get them repaired so you can be fit to run pain free again as soon as possible.
Lyndsay says: “We are now in our 8th year of business and are a team of 8 highly skilled experienced physiotherapists. The majority of the team have 10 years + experience at treating musculoskeletal injuries. Our facilities include treatment rooms, Pilates studio and a rehabilitation gym. We also have links with the lower limb surgeons at Methley Park Spire hospital who send us their post-operative knee patients for rehabilitation. My personal speciality is knee injuries/problems and we have a number of our physiotherapists that are completing their masters in lower limb rehabilitation and one in particular who has a special interest in running injuries as he is a keen runner himself. We are all very aware of how runners need to keep up with their training and we always try to work our treatment around continuing training.”

Ensuring your performances are always 100% you, is very important. Never be tempted to take anything that you think is going to improve your performance just because you see professionals or other athletes doing it. Good wholesome food and water are enough for most purposes.
Any athlete U13 and above can be randomly selected for testing, however the testers are usually only at schools and county and national level and for those at high level performances but so you know what is involved the links to UKAD are below. Dr Marc Randall (Coach) is a UKAD accredited advisor so please ask if you are unsure about anything.
